We are looking for the family of Ssgt Frank E. Whelchel who died in an air crash in Australia June 14, 1943. At the time of the crash families were not given much information. That info has come to light now and the 40 families are being located. So far there are 23 families found with 17 to go. Ssgt Whelchels family is one of the 17. There is much information to share that the family should know about. We know he is buried in Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons, GA. His parents were Lonnie and Susie Whelchel.
